Jeremy Blanchard Coaching

Dispatches on social change + personal transformation

Hi friends!

🌱 Latest from Jeremy

Wider Roots Podcast launches today! πŸŽ‰

Today's the day! The first two episodes are live right now in your podcast feeds!

You can subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or by email.

It's for movement leaders who long to see more inner work being done while we work for external change. And it's for coaches and other practitioners who long to use their work to effect systemic change.

Episode 1 - What questions this podcast is going to explore - My dear friend Jess Serrante joined me so we could explore what this project is about, what questions it's going to explore, and why we care about coaching or social change in the first place.

Episode 2 - Creating Belonging and Spaciousness in our Movements w/ Mazin Jamal - Mazin shares his perspective on how we can create spaces of belonging that are powerful enough to sustain us even when conflict arises.

Episode 3 (coming Feb 23) is with Anti-Racist trainer and somatics coach Dara Silverman exploring how coaches can support their clients around the genocide in Gaza right now.

I've been incredibly lit up over the last three months getting this project ready to share with y'all. Excited to hear how it lands for you all!

β˜€οΈ Quotes & Inspiration

I'm reading Kazu Haga's book as I prepare to interview him for the podcast late this month.

Nonviolence as a way of life is not about perfection. No one becomes purely nonviolent, so it is not about living a life where we never cause harm. That is as impossible as living a life in which our minds never wander. Even the greatest meditators in the world have wandering minds.
β€” Kazu Haga, Healing Resistance

Reading this quote, I think about all the leaders I know and the clients I coach who (like me) have gotten caught on the experience "I don't want to cause harm." It's incredibly understandable! And yet, Kazu's words here feel more true and more expansive - we're going to cause harm. The question that interests me is: how can we become skillful at practicing repair and restoration?

Related to the genocide in Gaza:

  • πŸŽ₯ Israelism - I watched this recently with friends. Powerful story of how much pressure is put on US Jews to support Israel.
  • πŸŽ₯ Five Broken Cameras - Watched this last week with friends to get a more Palestinian view. An up-close view of the violence that the occupation and settlements cause to one village. I was really struck by how committed they were to nonviolent resistance. Lots of connections to Kazu's book (above).
  • πŸ“Ί Llamma Rod Owens on why he believes so many spiritual teachers are silent about calling for a ceasefire
  • 🌱 Ecologizing Solidarity with Palestine from Lead to Life - a small field guide on the ecological implications of occupation, settler colonialism & genocide. I especially love the ways that birds are referenced in the "more-than-human accomplices" section.
